English has always been my favorite school subject, and as I've grown up, I've recognized that I also have a passion for journalism. When I realized my school offered a journalism program, I did not hesitate to sign up.

Journalism is incredibly important to me. With all the stories I've written, I've realized how much of a difference they can make. My stories, and those of my colleagues, have changed our school and community. We've covered everything from dress codes to wildfires to trigger warnings on school content. These articles have inspired real policy changes in our school administration. 

I've gotten to try so many new things with Carlmont High School's journalism program, and I can't imagine my life without it. I would be a completely different person. I'd have none of the knowledge, skills, passion, and patience that I have today. Unbeknownst to me, while trying new forms of media, spending weeks on research, and bettering my community, journalism changed my life.

I hope to continue my passion for changing the world through journalism in college and when I enter the workforce.
